New Remote Access Solution for Staff – Please Read!

New technology has been introduced for anyone who accesses the council’s network and shared drives remotely. A new Remote Access solution (Pulse Secure Access Gateway) has been rolled out to replace Maypole, Dolly, Bickershaw & Taylor. You will be able to access your VDI session with this.

You must transfer over to using the new solution by Monday 27th JUNE. The existing solution will be switched off shortly afterwards. A link to this is provided below.

Pulse Secure Access Gateway

Please note that if you have registered with DUO but have not used it for more than 60 days you will need to re-register. DOLLY should only be used from devices owned and managed by Wigan Council, Wigan and Leigh Housing or Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust *
Other devices may be connected to via Maypole**

  • Council Officers
    • Click the "Wigan Council Officer - Click Here to Connect" button above, then click 'Open'.
    • When the Remote Desktop dialogue opens, type in the name of the terminal server you wish to connect to .
  • Officers with access to 'PSN orginated data' data
    • Click the "Officers using Smart Card - Click Here to Connect" button above , then click 'Open'.
    • When the Remote Desktop dialogue opens, type in the name of the terminal server you wish to connect to .
  • Council Members
    • Click the "Wigan Council Members - Click Here to Connect" button above, then click 'Open'.
    • Next, enter your username - this needs to be in the format: domain\username - and your password in the 'Gateway Server Credentials' dialog window and click OK.
    • Click OK on the next screen and you will be presented with the login screen for the Member's terminal server.

Notes

  • *  Devices belonging to organisations whose IT security has been assessed to be of an equivalent standard as the PSN CoCo requirements may also connect using DOLLY
  • ** From the 18th of April access to servers from unmanaged devices such as your own PC or iPAD will still be allowed but additional verification of identity will be needed using similar methods to those used for online banking.
